My research

I started my career in 2003 working at the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales under the supervision of Dr. Guido Pastorino. In 2010, I obtained a PhD in Biological Sciences, Universidad de Buenos Aires. By the end of 2010 I moved to Puerto Madryn in Chubut province where I start to work at LARBIM. My research in the lab focuses on the taxonomic revision of bivalves living in the Argentine sea. Additionally, I work as the Curator of the Invertebrate Collection of CENPAT (CNP-INV) and as Secretary of the Argentine Malacological Society (ASAM) since 2011.

Research topics

LARBIM Research projects include aspects of Taxonomy, Ecology and Fisheries. The taxonomic projects, in which I participate, focus on the revision of bivalves living in the Argentine sea. Currently I am revising the taxonomy of the species belonging to the Order Cardiida starting by the superfamily Veneroidea y Cardioidea. This project combines morphological anatomical and molecular methodologies supported by a Research project on Science and Technology (PICT). In addition, I am currently working on a monographic revision of the superfamily Mactroidea within New Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology (University of Kansa Press). Field works include expeditions aboard of R/V Puerto Deseado along different localities of Argentine sea and Antarctic area. Additional collections are made by scuba diving between 4 and 25 m of depth from several localities. All collected specimens are deposited in the Invertebrate collection of CENPAT (CNP-INV). Lab. works include the revision of type material of each nominal species deposited in national and international institutions; exhaustive literature searching; and the redescription by different methodologies of valid species.LARBIM Research projects include aspects of Taxonomy, Ecology and Fisheries.
